Jennie gazed out the passenger window as Brae steered the SUV through downtown Eagle Ridge. Ever since they’d left the hospital, he’d been tense, his eyes constantly shifting and taking in the vehicles around them.
“Do you think we’re being followed?” she asked finally.
“Probably not, but I don’t want any surprises.”
She stayed silent then, letting him concentrate. A lock of hair hung over his forehead, and she had an almost irresistible urge to brush it back. The muscles in his face were tense, his lips pressed into a thin line.
Those lips… Her thoughts strayed back to the kiss they’d shared in her hospital room.
Obviously they’d kissed before, and more than likely they’d done a lot more than kiss. She didn’t remember those kisses, though. His kiss from a half hour earlier, she’d never forget. Something about the way he held her, the way his mouth slanted over hers, the heat pooling in her belly when his tongue had touched hers…it felt so familiar, so right.
“You look like you’re thinking hard,” he said, his baritone voice filling the interior of the car.
She felt her cheeks heat. If he only knew where her thoughts had taken her.
“Remembering something?”
Oh, yes. She remembered every detail of the kiss they’d just shared. Although she would like to know whether the memories of his kisses back then were as exciting and breath-stealing as the reality of the one they’d just shared. She doubted that was what he was asking, though.

Okay, I see you've got your tea and raisin toast slathered with butter (yum), so let's get right to the interview.
At what point in your life did you realized that being an author was no longer going to be just a dream but a career you were going to turn into reality?
That’s a tough question. I didn’t even think about writing until my boys were grown and gone, and even then, it was just for me. It wasn’t until I got some positive feedback on my writing that I even began to wonder if this could really be a new career. I still wonder sometimes if this is really happening. J
Which of your characters is most like you?
Parts of me are in all my characters, but if I had to choose, I’m more like Jennie. Family is everything to me, as it is to her. She’s a bit naive and always looks for the best in people, even when they don’t deserve it.
If you were stranded on a desert island, which character from Her Rocky Mountain Guardian would you want with you?
No contest! I’d want Brae with me. Not only would he protect me from whatever wild animals lurked on the island, he could make the nights very … interesting. J
Where do you write?
Depending on my mood, I either write in my office (an unoccupied bedroom that now has a desk, wall-to-wall bookshelves, etc.) or I curl up in a chair with my laptop in the solarium of our house overlooking the lake.
Do you have any “rituals” you go through before you write?
You mean other than having my ginormous cup of tea beside me? No, I’m not a ritual person although I’ve heard it really works for some people and I’m thinking about trying it.
What was your favorite chapter (or part) of Her Rocky Mountain Guardian to write and why?
The epilogue. I love writing the happily-ever-after, where everything comes together and the future looks bright and rosy.
How did you come up with the title?
I wanted a title that made the setting clear and also the type of book it was. It was originally called Rocky Mountain Guardian The “Her” was added by my editor.
What would YOU like your readers to know about this book or you in general?
I’d like readers to know how much I appreciate their support. I do my best to make each book better than the last and I hope I don’t disappoint them. I hope readers come away from reading my books feeling satisfied that even though there’s evil in the world, the good guys can win.
What's one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?
Keep learning, honing your craft. Even if you become whatever your definition of successful is, there’s always room to learn, to improve. And keep writing. Every day. Oops, that’s two pieces. Sorry. J
Do you have a favorite author?
I have so many favorites I couldn’t name just one, but some of my favorite suspense authors are Lisa Jackson, Lisa Gardner, CJ Lyons and Allison Brennan.
What is your favorite quote?
Do. Or do not. There is no try. – Yoda.
LOL - Awesome quote! What genre of books do you read for pleasure?
I usually read mainstream suspense/thrillers and historical romances.
What’s the most amusing thing that’s ever happened to you?
I believe in laughter, so coming up with the most amusing thing that’s ever happened is impossible. There are too many.
What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
I’m an avid pool player, and play every chance I get. In the evenings at home, though, I’m usually working on some kind of handicraft project.
If all TV shows were real, what show (all time) would you most like to live in?
Oh, wouldn’t that be something? I think I’d like to live in The Andy Griffith Show. I love the idea of living in a small town where everyone knows everyone and life is simple. And Barney is a hoot! Although to be honest, I’m not sure I could go back to the days when women had very little real freedom.

You suddenly realize you live in a haunted house. Do you:
Could you tell us five random facts about yourself?
As a little girl in Scotland, I loved reading the words in books, and using those words even when I had no idea what they meant. My favorites were consecrate (my version of concentrate), and puncture (meaning temperature).Within the pages of those books, I lost myself in the fantasy worlds the authors created. But I had no idea that someone – a real, live person – was writing the stories that enthralled me. And it never occurred to me that I could write stories, too.
When my family left Scotland and settled in Canada, I began to write – not stories, but long, rambling letters to my grandparents. Looking back, they were really mini-novels, filled with my adventures and tales of growing up in a new country. In school, I loathed English class. So what was I destined to be? Yes, you guessed it. A writer.
It wasn’t until my children left home, that I started writing and seriously pursuing a new career as a published author. These days, I’m lucky enough to be able to combine my love of travel (thanks to my father’s wanderlust) and writing by personally researching the settings in my books.
Now, I live on a lake and I’m lucky enough to wake up to this gorgeous view every morning (it does tend to distract me from the computer, I admit).
When I’m not writing, I can usually be found wielding a pair of knitting needles or a pool cue. Oh, and dealing with that wanderlust thing …

- Bravely go to a church, load up on holy water and try to get rid of the ghost.
- Set up ghost hunting equipment to capture phenomenon.
- Call in the Ghost Adventures crew so that you can ogle the lead guy Zac’s amazingly stiff hair when you’re not ogling his….physical attributes.
- Deny you have a ghost and just let it scare the bejesus out of your visitors.

- I love to dance.
- I spent my working life in the pathology department of my local hospital.
- I’m totally phobic about bees, wasps and hornets.
- I’m a junk food addict.
- I used to compose crossword puzzles for one of the major US puzzle magazines.
